The Snowy Region is most commonly known for Australia’s best skiing and snowboarding but there’s so much more to our incredible region than just snow.  During the summer months, skis are replaced by tyres and poles by pedals for adrenalin-filled down-hill mountain biking – with the chair-lifts carrying both you and your bike back to the top. If water is your thing, there are a myriad of lakes that are perfect for water-sports including canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and power-boating. Still not enough?  Well, how about horse riding, hiking and walking, camping, fishing and micro-breweries, distilleries, fine dining, rodeos, markets and much more.

Across the Region

If you’re travelling by car or by bike, you can discover our region by following the Alpine Touring route, or by visiting the quaint country villages of Bredbo, Nimmitabel and Bombala.  The world-class Wadbilliga National Park and Kosciuszko National Park are also only a short drive or ride away – both known for their rugged natural beauty and rich bio-diversity.  We also boast the highest point in Australia with Mount Kosciuszko offering panoramic views as far as the eye can see.

Around Town

Closer to home, why not visit the Snowy Hydro Discovery centre and learn all about the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme – as well as the new Snowy 2.0.  If history is your thing, why not walk around the historic quarters of Cooma town, in particular Lambie Street with its buildings dating back to the mid 1800’s.

You can discover more about places to see and things to do in our amazing region by clicking on the links below.  Don’t forget that Cooma is the capital of the Snowy Mountains and is centrally located in the region, giving you easy access to all the major attractions.

Winter Wonderland

If it’s skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing you’re after, then we’ve got the snow for you.  There are four main ski resorts in the region that cater for all levels of ability.  We’ve included some useful links below to help you get started.  There are also a number of places to hire snow equipment for your winter wonderland adventure, with several right here in Cooma. Don’t forget, the Alpine Hotel is only a short drive from the snow so we’re a great place to stay – and we even have a ski-store, to make your life that little bit easier.
